Getting out of my 4 year relationship was really hard for me. I realized how attached I was to him, and how he practically did everything for me or with me. Being independent was something I never had to do. I grew up with him, and all I knew was us. I truly hit rock bottom and didn’t know who I was. the dove represents peace; it’s what I needed to find within myself at the time. The cage represents my comfort and it’s open, meaning I needed to get out and do more…learn more..appreciate more. Getting this done truly helped me in this process. Everyday I learn something new, and I can finally call myself a strong, independent woman.
Now I'm shining too.

This is my first and only tattoo so far. I got it about 3 weeks ago and that photo was taken just after he finished it.
The story behind it is to do with my recent break up where i was with a guy for over 2 years and he screwed me over and broke my heart. I became so scared to loose him that i would let him get away with nearly anything as long as i had him, and that’s not who i am. So it’s a reminder to never loose myself ever again.
I got it done at Bribie Custom Tattoo Shop and my tattooist’s name is Josh. I think he did a great job!! I picked out the font and he redraw it. I LOVE ITT!!! :)
